Promenade alternative, repenser le Centre d'Echanges de Lyon Perrache/Sujet de diplôme de fin d'études proposé par la département « Héritage Architectural »/2008
Ce projet permet de s'interroger sur la notion de « patrimoine ».
Le Centre d'Echanges de Perrache, dessiné par René Gagès et construit dans les années 80, fait-il partie du patrimoine lyonnais? Dans le contexte de renouvellement urbain de la presqu'île lyonnaise, ce projet propose de conserver et de clarifier ce qui fait la force du bâtiment de Gagès: le réseau de transport.
Le noeud de communication existant est exposé à ciel ouvert, apportant une meilleure qualité de vie et créant de nouveaux usages: une promenade urbaine est effectivement aménagée, permettant au promeneur de passer agréablement les barrières successives que sont la gare de transports en commun et la gare SCNF. Cette promenade se matérialise par un ruban-scuplture
qui serpente, s'enroule et s'envole, mettant en valeur les bâtiments existants et donnant des points de vue exceptionnels sur la ville et ses environs. Ce projet est un réflexion sur la manière d'habiter la ville au XXIe siècle, et sur les nouvelles attitudes urbaines à venir.
Rethinking Lyon's Centre d'Echanges: an urban promenade/Final examination project, Historic preservation program/2008
The Centre d'Echanges de Perrache, in the historic center of Lyon, was built in the 1980's by famous architect and urbanist René Gagès. First of all, I asked myself: Is this place part of our heritage? Which parts of it have to be preserved and which parts need to be rethought? By measuring and learning more about this urban machine, I understood that the most ambicious part of Gagès' project is the network he created. This network is still working very efficiently, and my goal is to maintain its efficiency while adding a lot more quality. I try to make this place more pleasant for the everyday users by opening it to natural light and landscape. A new promenade links the north side and the south side across the old train station. This promenade is a ribbon flying through the air, opening fantastic views on the city and its surrounding landscape. Citizens taking a bus or running after their train become actors of an urban performance for those who are watching from above! This project is about a new way of living in Lyon, as this city is curently building an brand new commercial and residential area on the south side of the train station.
